The Green Transition Academy was launched on 1 February 2024. This 3.5-year project aims to address the gap in green and digital skills in the Czech Republic. Partnering with Purkynka, a leading vocational school based in Brno, South Moravia, the project focuses on developing courses that equip students and teachers with the skills needed for the green transition. Together with project partners—Purkynka, two Danish vocational schools (CELF and ZBC), Gate 21, and Aprendio—a model for vocational education is being created that can later be implemented in other schools across the country.
Key Achievements and Milestones in 2024
Student Advisory Board Established
A workshop held with students at Purkynka in April highlighted their enthusiasm and engagement with the project. As a result, the students were invited to form a Student Advisory Board, which now provides input on course development.
”There needs to be more emphasis on the green transition in our school system - it’s very important and especially us electricians are a big part of it.
- Matyáš, Student Advisory Board
”We should focus on the future and not only live in the moment, so I want to study more on what I can do for a greener future.
- Adéla, Student Advisory Board
Company Advisory Board Established
The April workshop also brought together representatives from locally based companies, including Thermo Fisher and ABB. Their input on the skills needed for the green transition led to the creation of a Company Advisory Board, ensuring the project is aligned with industry needs.
Workshops and Visits
The visit to Purkynka facilitated direct engagement with students, teachers, and businesses, providing a deeper understanding of the local context. In September, a group of Purkynka students and teachers travelled to Copenhagen to learn about Denmark’s green transition and exchange ideas with their Danish peers.

New Partnership with AZ Klima
Discussions with local businesses during the April workshop resulted in a new partnership with AZ Klima. The company will play a central role in contributing to Course 2 to reflect real-world industry requirements.
Course Identification
Collaboration with students, teachers, and companies has led to the identification of three courses. These will focus on both technical and soft skills, including critical thinking, systems thinking, and project management.
Looking Ahead: Milestones for 2025
In 2025, the project aims to:
- Finish the content development for three green transition courses.
- Train teachers to deliver the courses, with a focus on both traditional and digital teaching methods.
The Green Transition Academy is progressing steadily, with strong partnerships and collaboration driving its success. Stay tuned for further updates as the project moves into the next phase.
