Mentor to Impact has a clear mission to ensure a skilled workforce for the green transition. Our ambition is to develop solutions that can be scaled and widely adopted, and strong cross-sector partnerships are essential to achieving this goal.
Rooting our projects in local contexts, accelerating the green transition, and empowering the workforce are at the core of our initiatives. This is why we take a holistic approach, working with educational institutions, organisations, trade unions, businesses, and public authorities.
Trade Unions and Employer Organisations
We work closely with the technical trades, recognising the increasing demand for skilled labour to support the green transition. The need for qualified professionals is only set to grow, which is why we collaborate with trade unions and employer organisations to highlight the importance of education and upskilling in these fields.
Danish Electrical Union (Dansk El-Forbund) is the only trade union dedicated to electricians and technicians, representing over 27,000 members in the electrical sector.
Electricians, installers, and other technical professionals play a crucial role in achieving Denmark’s green transition. Their skills are needed for developing and maintaining renewable energy systems, adapting to increased electricity demand in transport, and expanding the national grid. The shortage of skilled workers in this sector is expected to increase, making it essential to accelerate training and recruitment efforts now.
Dansk El-Forbund is a board member of Mentor to Impact.
Plumbing and Pipefitting Union (Blik- og Rørarbejderforbundet) represents over 10,000 skilled workers in the HVAC sector across construction and installation industries.
HVAC professionals are key to improving energy efficiency and indoor climate quality—both vital aspects of the green transition. Achieving this requires large-scale renovations and smart installations. Upskilling through further education is crucial to reducing CO2 emissions, and there is significant potential in engaging young people who are currently outside the job or education system.

TEKNIQ Employers’ Association (TEKNIQ Arbejdsgiverne) represents around 4,100 member companies within the electrical, plumbing, and metal industries, employing 60,000 people.
TEKNIQ has long advocated for more young people to pursue technical vocational education, which is essential for meeting green transition goals. The current workforce is insufficient, and upskilling existing professionals is equally necessary. TEKNIQ represents a significant portion of the workforce involved in the green transition and will continue to do so in the future, given Denmark’s strong position in this area.
